Join in on our 2 Day Classic Inca Trail, which is perfect if you are looking for an express but epic trek adventure taking you to the last parts of the journey. You will visit spectacular Wiñaywayna, marvel at the breathtaking views of Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate, and walk through the Sanctuary scouting with a guide the most remarkable Citadel nooks, and complimentary own leisure walk until is time to enjoy an outbound train back to Cusco.

Know Before You Go
  • Bus transfer from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu on day 2 is optional. This portion is usually done hiking for 1-hour approximately
  • Walking sticks are not included but can be rented on the pre-tour briefing 1 o 2 days before the tour.
  • If you wish to include the hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountains, please send us en enquiry to check availability and book spots at extra cost. Please note that these hikes do not include a Guide.
  • What to bring: A daypack, clothing for both cold and warm weather, good hiking shoes, raingear or rain protection, sunscreen, insect repellent, tilet paper, hand cleanser, a hat, extra water and some snacks.

Itinerary

Day 1CUSCO – WIÑAYHUAYNA – AGUAS CALIENTES

Bright and early we’ll meet you at your hotel in Cusco for a drive to Km 104 Train Station. Here you’ll embark o a short trip across the famous Sacred valley until the Inca Trail start point, and after a routine check-in, you’ll cross Chachabamba, a beautiful Inca enclave that marks the beginning of the trail. Here the expert guide will share some facts and prepare you for the adventure ahead.

Continue hiking up, stopping just delight with river views until finding the site of Wiñayhuayna, which translated means ‘Forever Young’, this spectacular site was built on a mountain slope and is the second most important after Machu Picchu. Next up is the Sun Gate “Inti Punku”, the famed spot where every Inca Trail traveler is blown away by the dawns over Machu Picchu. The hike continues a little further towards the bus station and because there is still a walk left to approach the hotel in Aguas Calientes, only a short stay at the Citadel will be available on the first day. Overnight at Aguas Calientes.

Day 2AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

You’ll wake up at the perfect time to appreciate the tranquility before crowds arrive. Following a short drive by bus at 5:30 am, the scheduled arrival time to Machu Picchu is at 6:00 am. Follow your guide to enjoy a complete exploration of Machu Picchu and its legendary history. The tour includes the visit to the main attractions such as the Intihuatana, the Guardian House, the Condor Temple, and a walkthrough across the numerous lookouts to get spectacular views over the Citadel.

Continue on a complimentary time to explore and enjoy the sight of the ground on your own, or you can opt to hike the emblematic Huayna Picchu Mountain, a 2-hour climb that guarantees speechless views on top and over the Inca City along with the Sanctuary lush verdant mountains. After exploration, a bus will take you down to Aguas Calientes for lunch. Make sure to pack your belongings, as you will leave Aguas Calientes by train that same afternoon back to Cusco city.
